Heartfelt apologies for not responding to all these kind messages. The same week Dad died, my Mom was unexpectedly diagnosed with what is turning out to be terminal cancer. We have been at the hospital since last Friday with very severe radiation burns, neutropenia and an infection. Further chemoradiation is out of the question now.
Yesterday I found out we are also losing our three year old dog Theo, who has been battling kidney failure since he was a puppy. So…I guess I’ve got selfish reasons for posting today. I could use all the prayers I can get to weather this much sorrow. I will post and respond more here someday, I promise. I have so many pictures, songs, stories and memories I would love to share with you when I am able. With love and gratitude for all the warmth and care you’ve all shared with my family throughout this difficult year – Holly Yarbrough
So sorry to hear of all your troubles. Please know that many care and many are praying for you. Thinking of you this most holy of seasons

Life can be tough. I hope the well wishes and good thoughts help. I’ve asked for them myself as I battle disability from a car accident and the subsequent domino effect. I try to remember the good times, like when I met Glenn at Newport Beach as we sailed down the coast aboard ARAMOANA. I visited Glenn’s boat in Port Townsend just before one of his concerts. I remember play time with all my beloved cats. Music is a comfort. And I will play your dad’s songs and try to teleport to a happy time forgotten. And I will think of you, your dad, your mother, and Theo. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Life’s challenges are so often a heartbreaking struggle, Holly – but when we are given multiples, gush, well, after all, we are only human. My sympathies to you and those close to you who are personally sharing these sad experiences. I count myself so very, very fortunate to be able to have listened to your Dad’s music from as early as I can remember anything else – I can only imagine what a memorable life you must have had with him as your father. Hang in there, there is always a rainbow somewhere in those clouds and always remember there are far more people than you would ever know who direct their hopes at things getting better for you..

We have had that kind of year too. Lost our 33yo son in January, had to get emergency custody of his two daughters, my medical partner died suddenly 10 days after he retired. Sometimes you feel as if you are auditioning for the part of Job in the church play. Keep your chin up and take it one step at a time.

Holly, I wish you more strength for the days ahead. A friend taught me that our memories are some of the most potent and enduring resources of strength when life seems to land with both feet on your shoulders. So, I would encourage you to take some quiet times for yourself and visit some of those memories that I’m sure are very special, they belong to you and are just waiting for your return. They will give back, they will endure and be by your side.

Holly, please know that you are not selfish to request prayers and extra support during this difficult time. I will indeed pray for you. I’ve been thinking a lot about your dad during this holiday season–I have one of his Christmas CDs among others–and that in turn made me think about you as well. It’s so hard to lose a beloved pet, and I will include your mother in my prayers too. Too many losses in such a short time. Please stay in touch when you have time.

I can’t believe what you are going through. My heart goes out to you. I have your Family portrait and your dad’s cds in my stereo and only those in my iPod. I miss him just thinking he is gone. Now you must face another loss with your mother. And I presume you must mean Gert. Holly I have admired you so much for the unbelievable care you gave Glenn. The wonderful videos you have shared with all of us was so generous of you. I only wish the song you wrote for your “secret trip” to the river had come through. I truly am looking forward to you keeping all of us posted. As I am writing this Portrait is on and Hard to Say Goodbye” just was completed.
A big hug to you and I will keep you in my prayers. I am now on to River which I can’t help but associate with your beautiful good bye you did for Glenn where you sent him out to sea.
Take care of yourself, stay strong.

Holly, I loved your sweet dad as so many others did through his gift of music. I was fortunate enough to spend time with him and his band of brothers when they performed so many times at Dick Cerri’s Music Americana annual benefit concert. Sweet memories of listening to his voice long before that in my childhood with my beloved father, who I lost in 1981. I’m thinking of you again, going through such emotionally difficult times with your mother and beloved dog both sick. You are in my thoughts and my heart.

God bless you Holly! I know it must seem too much, all at once, but God doesn’t, give you more rocks than you can carry. It’s corny but true. I’ve heard you sing and felt the warmth of your spirit. You will get thru all of this and you will carry on. I have no doubts. I, for one, would love it if you made an album. I’d buy it and I imagine there are many who would. Your voice rings like a crystal bell. All of us, out here, have you and your family and Theo in our hearts and in our prayers.
